Frigiliana and Maro Churches

Frigiliana Church (San Antonio de Padua)

The church in Frigiliana is called San Antonio de Padua. Situated in the heart of Frigiliana´s old town on plaza iglesia, calle Real.  The church can accommodate up to 250 guests. The parish priest is Fr Francisco who performs wedding ceremonies in English. To reach the church guests are brought by coach from Nerja (15 min drive) to the entrance to the village and then walk approx 15 min up hill to reach the church square.

The ceremony cost is 300€. This does not include floral decorations or live musicians (see prices for details) . The church does have a music system which you can plug a phone in to.

Non Catholics can have an Anglican blessing in the church (this is not officially recognised so you´d need to marry in your home country first). Cost for this is 180€ to use the church and 450€ for the Anglican chaplain to perform the ceremony.

  • Ceremony times 4 and 5.30pm
  • Ceremony cost: 300€
  • Classical or religious music is allowed
  • You can bring over your own priest to perform the ceremony (must be ordained), and your own musicians
  • Natural rose petals allowed for confetti
  • No official dress code
  • Drinks receptions can be organised on the church square after the ceremony

Maro Church (Nuestra señora de las maravillas)

Maro church is a very small church which can seat approx 65 guests. Situated on calle Cristo overlooking the cliffs of Maro (acantilados de Maro-Cerro Gordo). It´s ideal for very small, intimate weddings and especially if the bride & groom don´t like too much attention as Maro is a very quiet village with just 800 inhabitants. The parish priest is Fr Antonio Jesus who also covers the El Salvador church in Nerja.
